This light pinot noir takes a minute to appreciate, but evolves into a balanced dry wine with notes of cherry and some fun earthiness.

Tasting Notes

I have to be honest, I hated my first few sips of this wine. I was initially so disappointed because Trader Joe’s had specifically called this out as a really quality pinot noir for the value. However, as it opened up and I settled in, it grew on me and I ended up really enjoying and bumped this up to a 4 star. PSA: persevere through the initial sips and let it open up a bit before judgement.

It is a gorgeous bright ruby and very translucent. Monterey Pinots have a reputation for their acidity and this is no exception. It is a bit on the dry side for me, but I still appreciate the balanced nature with the traditional acidity of a pinot.

It's easy drinking cherry and slightly underripe strawberry, then roll into earthy mushrooms and some white pepper. I swear I got some bell pepper flavor in there too, but it was after my 2nd glass.

I would put this with pizza or even non-spicy Thai food!

On the Palate…
