This is a great go-to Malbec for a nice night of cooking steak at home. Malbec is a heavier red wine and this looks like a traditional one, purple-ish red in color and pigment.
It is very well-balanced with smooth tannins with notes of rich plums and cherries. Due to the notes of ripe plums, this Malbec is a bit on the sweeter side, but it is not “sweet” and is still dry. It would pair well with meat (duh!) and grilled asparagus.
We have had this bottle several times, and I would classify it as consistent and predictable. It is from Bodega Norton, which is a massive producer of wine in Mendoza, Argentina. We have actually been to this winery (pictures from the tour below). It is tucked into the foothills of the Andes Mountains and has been producing wine since 1895. If you keep an eye out, you are likely to find bottles from Bodega Norton all over.
