Wine from the south of France in the Rhone Valley are grown in a Mediterranean climate means you get delicious late ripening grapes like Grenache and Syrah, which is likely what makes up this Cote-du-Rhone.
Let this wine breathe after opening it, as the tannins are a bit strong right away. Once you do, you'll settle into the dark red fruits like ripe strawberries and currants. It finishes with subtle vanilla and spice. For a darker red, I considered this very easy to drink without being boring. And at the Trader Joe's price, I would easily stock up on several bottles for a weekend or weeknight!
